This wine was aged in a combination of new American and once used French oak barrels. This mixed use of oak barrels gives the right amount of woody, spicy, smoky oak tones to the wine. It is noticeably packed with cherry and blackberry fruit aromas and a hint of fine leather. These attributes make for a wine which is balanced and encompasses the finest qualities of the varietal.

The 2008 Zinfandel was bottled on July 19, 2011. Rich berry fruit and spicy, peppery notes are backed up with a very delicate caramel and chocolate note. The American oak is deeply smoky and adds a very strong and elegant backbone of oak to the tannin structure. Further aging will soften the mouthfeel and the balance of fruit and oak will become seamless and harmonious. This is definitely one of our best vintages of Zinfandel.

Aging in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak for a full 20 months gives the wine a very nice bouquet. Layered with ripe black cherry, light floral and classic bell pepper notes, the jam fruit aromas and warm smoky oak tones accentuate and define this Cabernet Franc. Full bodied and velvety upon the first taste, this is a supple wine with great varietal intensity.

Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are paired in blends throughout the world. A touch of Viognier can elevate the aroma and give an exotic, tropical character to the wine that makes it very unique and inviting. Fermented in French Oak barrels, gives our Estate Fume a rich smokiness.

This very special Anniversary Cuvee commemorates the first ten years of wine making at South Coast Winery, which began in 2001 with our first Wild Horse Peak Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our short history has been filled with international and national accolades that have recognized the efforts put forth by South Coast Winery.
