Description
77% Tempranillo, 23% Monastrell
This wonderful blend serves up lively flavors of red currants, blackberries and dried herbs, with just enough French oak to give this wine a strong backbone and long term aging potential. Enjoy with grilled meats or on its own. This is one red wine that needs no supporting cast.
This dynamic little red wine features two of Spain’s leading red varietals, Tempranillo and Monastrell (also known as Mourvedre), which were both grown in our Wild Horse Peak Vineyards. The 2015 winter and growing season was fairly dry, and the yields, while small, were intense and concentrated. We co-fermented these two varietals and looked to make a Rioja-style red wine that would capture the fruit of the Monastrell and soften the otherwise harsh tannin structure of Tempranillo. Joined together, these varietals make a red wine deep in color and richly intense in flavor.
