This limited varietal offering is a hallmark example of the variety and reflects Carmenèré’s unique character and flavor.
Carmenèré has a long, storied history; once widely planted in the Bordeaux region, it is now more widely planted in Chile,California and Washington. Carmenèré is commonly used as a blending grape, this descendant of Cabernet Franc has a dark crimson color, soft tannin structure and assertive cherry-herbal qualities which make it a natural to marry with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The bell pepper herbal characters are attractive and it is easy to taste why this is such a loved variety.
Along with Malbec and Petite Verdot, these varietals are part of the Mustang Knoll block, planted in 2012. Harvested on September 11, 2017 from the Mustang Knoll block of Wild Horse Peak Vineyards
