77% Sangiovese, 9% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Syrah
This blend truly highlights the beauty of sangiovese and demonstrates the restrained strength of Bordelaise and Rhône varietals. All the fruit for this wine was sourced from our Wild Horse Peak Vineyards (located in the Agua Tibia wilderness) and harvested over a period of several weeks in late September and early October. The sangiovese portion of this blend is packed with black cherry and strawberry aromas and has bright acidity and marries well with the merlot and cabernet sauvignon. The Bordelaise varietals give the wine depth and richness without hiding the varietal nuances that sangiovese can have in a blend of this nature. The syrah helps bolster the berry notes and adds length to the finish. The tannins are velvety and super soft with just enough grip to stand up to grilled meats and saucy, rich, pasta dishes. Aged for over 18 months in French oak barrels, the warm and inviting oak aromas have the perfect tone of spicy vanilla, cinnamon and clove giving this wine a noticeable and beautiful lift of woodsy deliciousness. Certainly, a wine that will drink nicely upon release, this 2019 IL Temporale will continue to age gracefully and show well for the next six to 10 years.
